The CPI and WWI
The CPI and WWI 1TranQuan TranHistory 2302The CPI and WWIWhen looking back on the United States' history, one feature stands out the most: the U.S. was involved in a lot of wars. Throughout the 20th century, the United States found itself in several major wars. World War I was the first of those major wars. During World War I, many soldiers were overseas fighting the Central Powers, while much of the American public sat helplessly on the home front. Woodrow Wilson saw the potential support that the people at home could provide, so he came up with a way to rally those unused potentials. In order to gain support from the people at home, President Woodrow Wilson established the Committee on Public Information and appointed George Creel as the chairman of the committee. Through out the war, the Committee on Public Information created and distributed many posters about the war that were successful in gaining the support of the public. This support played a major role in the Allies' victory of World War I. The Committee on Public Information, or CPI, was established during mid-April 1917 and was headed by George Creel (134). George Creel was working as a journalist when he was appointed by Woodrow Wilson as the head of the Committee on Public Information. According to Creel, the Committee on Public Information was created to "fight for the verdict of mankind" (135). He believed the role of the committee was to inform the public of the reason for the United States' actions overseas. Creel felt that the "war was not fought in France alone", but also had to be fought at home in the United States (135). The most persuasive way to get people at home involved in the war was by using propaganda, such...

The mutual effect between quality and cost management - Essay Example The scope when measured accurate results in the projectââ¬â¢s success, more so in terms of quality. Finally, cost the main focus of the paper often pays attention to the total amount of money that is needed to ensure that the project is finished up. Cost is said to be a resource sacrificed or foregone so as to achieve a specific objective (Schwalbe, 2014); costs are consequently measured in monetary amounts. Being an important aspect of project completion entails any given aspect of the project that requires some sort of funding. Aspects like; cost of materials to be utilized, labor charges, risk estimates and others. This only reflects the fact that project do cost money even more reason as to why project managers ought to understand Project Cost Management. For instance, if the original or official cost estimates of a project are low due to unclear project requirements and stipulations; chances are that cost overruns are to be incurred. However, if a good project cost management technique is to be applied, then cost overruns throughout the project can be avoided. Project Cost Management (PCM) often sees to it that the project team in place completes a project within an approved budget. Therefore, this only means that the project has to be well defined with accurate time and cost estimates. Eventually, the project manager has to ensure that project stakeholders are satisfied while at the same time making sure that costs are reduced and controlled. Therefore, this is to say that project management aims at fulfilling the needs and expectations of stakeholders; thus if a stakeholder is dissatisfied only more time will be invested and higher costs incurred. Stakeholder satisfaction is attained through quality; and this is only possible when cost of quality is measured and analysed. PCM usually does operate on the foundation of various

Review Of Film Breathless Essay Example | Topics and Well Written Essays - 1000 words
Review Of Film Breathless - Essay Example Basically, Michel seems to suffer from gradual exhaustion of his limited energy, passion, and courage. In the end, he is dead on his feet. Social power always punishes individuals who are rebellious and discontent with the original social system. Fighting against the social system often happens to be a doomed battle in which an individual like Michel either chooses to die or has no choice but to surrender. Faced with the looming prospect of death, Michel still believes in the motto ââ¬Å"All or nothingâ⬠which identifies how a person can never be both a rebel and a bender. He famously claims in the movie, ââ¬Å"Youââ¬â¢ve got to have all or nothingâ⬠. Michelââ¬â¢s last moments are considered some of the most iconic moments in French cinema. Being a rebel chased by police, Michel naturally feels tired and drained from all the fuss. He craves comfort and warmth amidst much darkness. For example, waking up next to a woman seems like a very happy and fulfilling experien ce for him. He needs such a woman in his life who could make him feel fulfilled taking him away from all the drama in his life. He wants such a companion not only to become able to satisfy his sexual needs, but he also has other hidden desires embedded deep in his heartà Michel tells a story in the film in which a man who steals 5000000 francs finds a woman and together they spend their time as a happy couple pampering themselves. Purpose of a Job Description Essay Example for Free
Purpose of a Job Description Essay The primary purpose of a job description is to identify the duties, essential functions and requirements of the position. Job descriptions also serve several other important functions. A good job description can assess work flow and eliminate duplication of effort and also help to assist in the evaluation of the employeesââ¬â¢ job performance. It should be a statement of what duties and responsibilities the employee is expected to complete and a means for achieving them. Job descriptions can also be used as recruitment tools, compensation surveys and other benchmarks tools. Job descriptions are used for different purposes by the employee and the Human Resources Department. Human Resource managers, can use job descriptions for employee training and development and establishing and updating performance standards. In general, a job description includes the title, a description of the tasks performed, and information on working conditions. It can also include any other attributes that the employer requires for that position such as: education, knowledge, skills and personality suitability. (Verma, 2007) Many business challenges such as the introduction of new technology, or increased business competition, can be more easily met when employees are well prepared and trained to have the required skills. The company I work for, for example, informs all the employees with the latest updates within the company by sending a letter. With detailed job descriptions, you can compare the actual tasks of employees to what needs to be done within the organization. This helps you easily identify critical areas that need to be addressed, ensuring you have a global view of your organizations strengths and weaknesses and, at the same time, a detailed view of each employees areas of strengths and areas for improvement or change. In the recruitment process, a job description gives potential employees comprehensive information about the job for which they are applying. An accurate and effective job description filters applicants who are being evaluated for the opening helping generate a higher-quality pool of applicants. It also serves as a resource to the supervisor who is filling a position by helping determine the types of selection tools that should be used when hiring. The Sim-Industries HR department has been in place for 1, 5 years now and they still have not made time to develop job descriptions, because the management did not see this as a priority. The company was in its initial fase and all the employees were expected to be flexible during that period. For example, the finance manager worked in the finance department but was also involved in the human resource department and he was furthermore acting as the PA of the CEO. Currently we have two hundred employees and I believe that it is time to start setting up job descriptions. We need structure and the different kind of functions within the company should be defined. It must be clear what duties a colleague has and what he or she is responsible for within the organization. It will be a lot clearer for new employees to have a job description as they will then have a better understanding what the organization is expecting from them. As I can see now in the organization, many employees do not exactly know what their duties are and who is responsible for what. Therefore I think that we should consider the introduction of another type of management. With for example performance management, we will reach more personal involvement between employees and managers due the fact that the system is based on managing the strategy of the organization. The goals in the organization will be more specific when the managers constantly ask themselves: ââ¬ËHow are we going to reach that? ââ¬â¢ and ââ¬ËWho is responsible for that? ââ¬â¢ When they start using the new system, the strategy will become clearer.

Technology and People Technology has created a world of its own covering all the old traditions and machines. This technology has made remarkable changes in the human life by making it more and more comfortable and in other words paralyzing the human body except brain. All over the world, computers and computerized machines are performing the tasks and human are only their users or programmers. Tradeoff is a somehow a term used normally at business level. Its original meaning can be exchange, substitute or transaction. It means that tradeoffs have made many differences in many fields. Now, the manual labor has been exchanged by the computerized systems. And the locomotion was done on or through animals in the past; fashionably designed cars have substituted them. Aero planes, helicopters and large ships now substitute big animals like camels that were used to travel between different countries. So, tradeoff is basically used for substitution of anything, in other words, the substitu tion of manual work into technological work. Here we will discuss the two major technologies that have changed a lot of things and the way of living. Computers (Positive consequences) Computers and computerized technology have brought a revolution in the world. It has made our world a global village by interconnecting all of us together through Internet. There seems to be no difference between America and Asia or Europe and Africa now. Since 1980, a huge variation is seen in the different fields of life. These changes can be identified from daily life activities to big projects. Of course, these new developments have also opened many new ways for people to get into work. For example, we have now laundry systems, home delivery systems, letter writi... ...ch use of labors is left. The work that has been done by 10 workers before can only be handled by a single machine and with perfection. Day by day, new advancements are made thus by making the use of a man more and more less. People can get everything now by Internet or just by making phone call. A truck can take a large amount of material at a time and it can be loaded and unloaded by using lifting machines. Similarly, the planes have made the transportation fast and flawless and the use of labor is also decreased there. Conclusion In end, I would like to say that ââ¬ËTo gain something is to lose somethingââ¬â¢, we now have advance life level with lots of comforts but we also have serious health problems that running side by side. But itââ¬â¢s in our hands and we can stop the negative affects if there are given serious thoughts as most important are the humans not machines.

Islam Is the Way of Life Essay
Thank yuo Mrs. Chairman. Well, good morning everyone. I would like to utter my very first salam to the honourable judges, respected teachers and fellow friends. My name is Noor Husna Bt. Ahmad Toha and Iââ¬â¢m from the red team. The reason why am I standing here today is to give a speech entitled ââ¬Å"Islam is the Way of Lifeâ⬠. First and foremost, I believed that each one of us had already heard the phrase ââ¬Å"Islam is the Way of Lifeâ⬠quite often but what does it really means? So today, letââ¬â¢s make ourselves clear with it. Teachers and students, Islam guides from the cradle to the grave. It guides us in all aspects of life rather than just prayer and worship. The way of life of Prophet Muhammad P.B.U.H is the way of life of Islam. His 24 hours of life is the perfect model for the people to follow until the Dooms Day. His way of speech, dresiing, his dealing with the wives, children and people in general, his sitiing, walking, sleeping, eating and even his way in the lavatory are model to us. His dealing as the ruler of the Islamic nation, as the judge, as the commander in chief of army, as the head of the family are examples to follow. Prophet Muhammad had once said, ââ¬Å"I have left two things with you which if you hold onto, you shall not misguided; The Book of God and my example. Humans are made to obey The Creator. Following the Sunnah are one of the many ways to show our devotion to Allah, and the most important is surely to be gracious and respectful to Allahââ¬â¢s Messenger as stated in the Holy Quran in the first sentence of Surat Al-Hujurat which means, ââ¬Å"O you who believe, do not put yourselves forward before Allah and His Messenger, but fear Allah: for Allahis He Who hears and knows all things. We can see a lot of scams in the business nowadays which is very contrary to what has been taught to us by the Prophet. It is a compulsary to us to be fair and honest in trading. Deceiving is completely forbidden. Cheating in business does not benefits anything but it is more likely to gives bad effect to our own life.
